Price of adding a larger stone onto my ring?
My wedding ring has this pittifully small diamond which you need a magnifying glass to see. When I was looking at engagment rings a jeweler told me it could always be replaced with a bigger stone in the future (that it was more important that the shank be of good quality). I am buying the stone loose, but am wondering if anyone has any idea the price of getting the four prong setting enlarged to say 2 carats?
I actually don't need a new stone, I am buying a loose 2 carat one on ebay (wow great deals). I was more wondering if people know or remember the hourly rate or charge of most jewelers for working with the metal setting on the ring. Just the labour part.
It would be hard to say ....alot depends on the clarity and the size. I have a three stone diamond ring and it is a Leo from Kay Jewelers and it was about $6,800.00 . Kay Jewelers offers a trade in as long as you trade up in value. I don't know where your ring came from but why don't you go back there and see if they offer anything .....
Hope this was helpful ~~~
