Ear cartilage piercing?
So all day I've been looking into getting my cartilage pierced. I really want it done, this is my last piercing (I have two pairs of lobe piercings (2 on each side)) I thought that an ear piercing gun would be better but I gave a few calls to claire's, icing by claire's and ardene. They all don't do cartilage anymore. Finally, one of the ladies I spoke with told me the gun can shatter the cartilage. I can see how, because of the gun punching a hole through your ear. But my last two experiences were done with a gun at people's jewelers and ardene, and they didn't hurt at all during the process. So my question is; will it hurt more to have it done with a needle, because I can't see how it can hurt less... a gun is fast a needle is slow. I'm obviously to my last resort which is a needle or no piercing at all... so how much will this hurt compared to a gun?
It does not hurt with a needle, A needle makes way for the jewelry whereas a gun crushes it into your ear which can shatter or deform your cartilage. Guns can also not be sterilized, they can not be autoclaved which is the only way to fully remove any bacteria. The jewelry in a gun is far too short for a cartilage piercing to be healed with because it will swell, this can cause the butterfly back to get stuck in your ear, also the butterfly back will trap any bacteria causing you more problems. the jewelry is also of a low quality.
Go to a professional Piercer and get them to do it, make sure they use a needle and they open the packet in front of you. Make sure your jewelry is either Titanium or Niobium. Clean it 2/3 times a day with sea salt soaks, do not sleep on it or play with it/ twist it etc.
