How do i tell if something is real gold?
I buy alot of second hand jewellery and although some of it claims to be "real" gold - i want to be sure before paying.
I understand that gold is supposed to be stamped with a brand that can be viewed under a magnifying glass but i was wonder, short of carrying one of those round with me, if there was a simpler way to tell......??
No, and sometimes the stamps aren't accurate. Jewelers test gold by rubbing it on an abrasive sponge and then they apply an acid to it. Only a test like that can confirm whether it's gold or not.
